Château and Champagne                     Friday 14 to Sunday 16 July

For 2017 we return to a stunning château with a Michelin star restaurant in the heart of the Normandy coastline. Just a few minutes from the centre of Bayeux where the famous tapestry is housed and equally close to the D Day landing beaches. This beautiful chateau is the perfect location from which to explore the surrounding region.

Depart on the 09:00 Eurotunnel. Leaving the tunnel we travel for around three hours and stop for lunch around 13:30 local time at the pretty little village of Pierrefitte en Auge. A further one hours drive takes us to this beautiful Château.

Friday Evening

Relax on the terrace with a drink or take a break in the indoor pool or jacuzzi before enjoying dinner.

The whole area is steeped in history with so many places to visit and sights to take in.

Less than 15 minutes takes you into the town of Bayeux where the famous tapestry is displayed. There are a number of theories as to its origin but most likely it was commissioned by Bishop Odo, William the Conquerors half brother. Made in England this tapestry, nearly 70 meters long, depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England and the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

Slightly further afield at around 25 minutes drive is Gold beach, the central of 5 areas of the Allied invasion of France. The capture of Gold was the responsibility of the British and landings commenced at 07:45 on 6 June 1945. With the American forces landing to the west at Omaha and the Canadian forces to the east at Juno there is so much to explore in this area.

If history does not appeal then how about a visit to a Calvados distillery? The region is famous for it's cider production, a visit and tasting session of the regions famous cider brandy is only a short drive away.

Or just stay at the Chateau, relax and enjoy the pool and spa.

Saturday Evening

Time to don black tie and posh frocks. Starting with a cocktail reception and then an absolutely sumptuous gala dinner prepared by Michelin starred chef Nicolas Fages.

Begin the day with a leisurely breakfast. After which there is time to explore the area further or just stay and enjoy the pool and spa.

We leave around 15:00 allowing plenty of time for our return journey to catch the 19:00 Eurotunnel.
