What Type Of Car Do I Need?

Our tours are not races or time trials. Each day's journey is designed to be easily achievable and at such a pace that both driver and passenger can relax and enjoy the drive and scenery. Bearing in mind that many of the tours will involve climbing mountain passes, so as long as you are confident that your car can cope with the climbs, descents and the daily mileage then make, model and age will not make any difference. If you are at all uncertain, please check with us.

What Is The Normal Daily Mileage?

This can vary as the first day of a tour may involve a longer than normal journey to get us to the start of the interesting roads. This first stage would normally be on an Autoroute or equivalent so the higher than normal mileage for the day should be easily attainable without putting any stress on either the driver passenger or car. Once on our normal tour roads we try to limit each day to around 150 miles to ensure that we can enjoy the drive, stop to enjoy the scenery and have time to relax over lunch.

When Should We Be At The Hotel Each Evening?

Dinner (where included) would be at 8:00pm so we try to ensure that we arrive at the hotel between 4pm and 6pm to ensure plenty of time prior to eating. Of course this depends on many factors such as average speed during the day and how often you choose to stop.

What Are The Hotel Parking Arrangements?

The hotels we choose have private off-road parking and some may also have secured covered parking available.

Do We Have To Stay In Convoy?

No. You will be provided with a road book containing each days directions and timings. If you are happy to go at your own pace and stop where and when it suits you then there is no need to stay in convoy. The hotel location and contact information is included in your pack. If you are not confident about navigating to the destination then staying in convoy will be your best option. Walkie Talkies are provided to help you stay in touch throughout each day's drive along with a list of contact numbers.

Is The Navigation Difficult?

We provide a road book that gives route notes distances and suggested timings for you to follow. Additionally, maps with the route highlighted will be provided and Sat Nav waypoints and location information will be available. The focus is on relaxing and enjoying the driving so we endeavour to make the navigation as easy as possible. Also, we will be leading each tour so you can choose to just follow us.

Do we Have To Be A Member Of A Club/Organisation Or Need Any Special Licence?

There is no element of competition in our tours so no special licence or club membership is required.

Can I Join/Leave A Tour Part Way Through?

Yes. We are happy to discuss individual requirements and make adjustments accordingly.

Do I Need A Passenger/Co-driver?

No. If you are happy to navigate and or follow us then it is perfectly acceptable to participate in the tour on your own. As costs are all based upon two people sharing a car and a hotel room there may be a price adjustment accordingly.

Can I Book A Single Occupancy Hotel Room?

Yes, but as above there may be an additional charge to cover this.

What Is The Dress Code?

Our tours are designed to be relaxing holidays combining the pleasure of driving some of the most fantastic roads in Europe with fine dining and good wine so dress during the day is as you please. Some of the hotels we use may have a policy of smart casual dress for dinner. If so, then jeans and trainers may not be suitable for these. Some of our tours may include a gourmet black-tie dinner. This will be detailed in the itinerary where appropriate.

Do You Accompany Each Tour?

Yes. We will be leading each tour and we will be available througout the duration of each event to provide help and assistance throughout your trip with us.

Is There a Minimum Number of Cars for Each Tour?

Yes. Generally less than 5 cars would lead to cancellation of the tour.
